The power grid here on the west coast of Puerto Rico has improved greatly in the last few years. In case of an interruption we have completed the installation of our rooftop solar panels with back up battery system and generator. If the power from the utility company goes down our back up power seamlessly activates. Most everything on the property will function as normal. The refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, ceiling fans, lights, and power outlets will remain working. The wifi will continue to work unless the back up power for the main Liberty Cable substation goes down. Unfortunately our back up system cannot power the stove tops and AC since they run on 220V. When the main power comes back online these will be functional as well . We are proud to be part of only 10% of vacation rental properties on the island to have an alternative power back up system.
The water at times can be affected due to scarcity. We have installed a 2500 gallon reserve of fresh filtered water for our property. In addition we have 2 solar water heaters that store an additional 300 gallons of hot water. Since we are on a septic system we ask that guests conserve water use and minimize toilet paper usage. It is better for the environment and our local ecosystem. Mother Nature thanks you!
